In Honor of Tim Odegard
Global Minnesota is deeply saddened to share the passing of former Program Director Tim Odegard on July 25.

Tim joined Global Minnesota as Program Director in 2015, bringing with him years of experience in international education and international business, and today his impact is seen throughout the organization.
Over his 8 years in the role, which he called his dream job, Tim led programs engaging thousands of people to hear from hundreds of diplomats, journalists, leaders and experts from around the world. Tim was committed to nurturing the next generation of global leaders and led programs that inspired school children across the state to explore and connect with the world.
Tim’s work has touched so many lives and has made a profound difference in helping us all know more about the world. We have received countless notes from people in Minnesota, across the country and around the world that tell the story of his impact, including:
- Tim’s dedication to Global Minnesota and his passion for building connections across the globe were truly inspirational.
- It was a privilege to have known him and to witness his unwavering commitment to making the world a better place.
- His dedication to building connections and fostering understanding across the globe has left a lasting impact on all of us.
- Tim was such a treasure for us at Global Ties, with our Network, and for the IVLP program — and we will miss his kindness and leadership tremendously.
The team at Global Minnesota will miss Tim’s vast knowledge of the world, incredible ability to connect people across borders, his kindness and gracious hospitality, as well as his mischievous sense of humor.
Global Minnesota is honored that Tim suggested gifts to the organization for those wanting to perpetuate the programs he loved so much. Gifts in his memory will be used to fund programs that spark global curiosity and learning in K-12 students.
